The Best Pink Chanel Bag? Comparison between the 22c Pink and Series 9 Pink

Any PINK lovers in the house? There’s nothing like wearing a pink bag, especially a pink Chanel Classic Flap and channeling your inner Elle Woods. Over the years, Chanel has released many pink shades, some more popular than others.

Typically, Chanel collectors, especially collectors of Chanel Classic Flaps love to have a rainbow of colors in their collection. However, without a doubt, Chanel’s most popular color after the neutrals (black, beige, white) is pink. Every year, there’s a mini frenzy about the fashion house’s new colors and in the last years, Chanel has released some amazing pinks.

22c Perfect Chanel Pink

The newest Chanel pink that has taken the world by storm is the 22c (2021/2020 Cruise Collection) pink. It is a perfect pink, not too bright and not too pale either. Personally I love that it doesn’t have any peachy tones or mauve/lilac undertone like the previous season. The 22c pink shade seems much more neutral, with no obvious cool or warm undertones, which makes it quite easy to match.

Instagrammer @arisucookie, which has the most amazing collection of pink Chanel bags, got a hold of the beautiful 22c Pink Classic Flap as well as other small leather goods in the same shade. All of her items and the majority of the items in the 22c pink are in caviar leather, which is actually great, since it is a light color and thus more prone to staining.

The unicorn –  Series 9 Chanel Classic Flap

Also, going back in history, the house had some pretty memorable pinks such as the highly sought after “Chanel – Sakura Pink” (not its official name) from 2005 which is often times described as a unicorn. The series 9/10 pink Chanel Classic Flap is extremely hard to find on the pre-loved market and if you do find it, expect to pay a premium.

As you can see in the pictures below from carousell.sg, the shade is pretty similar to the 22c pink. Depending on the lighting, the 9 series appears to be slightly more warmer toned, but it’s hard to say with certainty without holding them side by side. The series 9 Chanel Pink Classic flap has 24k gold hardware that adds a certain depth to the pink, whereas the 22c Classic Flap comes with light gold hardware that almost looks like silver in some light.

As you can see, the new collection Pink from Chanel is very similar to the one and only pink unicorn from 2005, so there’s no surprise that this bag is incredibly hard to find. If you’re looking for a Classic Flap but you find the price hard to swallow, try looking for a WOC or a SLG so you can still get the beautiful pink shade but for a more manageable amount of cash.
