Louis Vuitton Palais: sizes, prices, pros and cons, what fits inside and more
Described as the perfect everyday companion, the Louis Vuitton Palais is a sleek, classic handbag that works with all kinds of outfits.
This article will tell you everything you need to know about this bag so you can decide if it’s the one for you.
Louis Vuitton History
Louis Vuitton has been making leather goods since its namesake started manufacturing lightweight, waterproof trunks in 1837. In its 150+ years in business, LV has broadened its offerings to include small leather goods, sunglasses, and perfumes.
Perhaps the most significant change in the brand’s history came in 1987 when Louis Vuitton joined with Moët et Chandon and Hennessy to form the LVMH luxury conglomerate.
Louis Vuitton Palais History and Description
With its suitcase-like shape, padlock accessory, and leather name tag, the Palais gives a nod to the House’s legacy as a trunk and luggage maker.
A fairly recent design, the Palais was inspired by the 2011 Lockit bag and the 2014 Montaigne bag.
In terms of features, the Palais includes a monogrammed canvas exterior, a removable crossbody strap, double top handles, and two outside flat compartments.
Inside the bag, there’s a zippered pocket and two inside flat pockets lined in textile or microfiber.

Is the Louis Vuitton Palais Worth Buying?
Now that you’ve got all of the facts about Louis Vuitton’s Palais bag, the last question to ask yourself is “should I buy this bag?”
While we can’t tell you definitively one way or another (we don’t know your style, budget, or lifestyle), we can give you some things to think about before you make your decision.
As far as downsides, we wish the Palais had metal studs to protect the bottom. It’s not a deal breaker, but it is something to think about when it comes to durability.
Another potential downside is the skinny crossbody strap. It isn’t the best at supporting a lot of weight, so if you’ve got a kitchen sink-type purse, you might want to invest in another strap or look at some other models.
The Palais certainly isn’t perfect, but we’re big fans of the classic styling, sturdy construction, and unique details.
It’s the type of bag that can be used for work, while traveling, or just doing errands. On a similar note, this bag isn’t going out of style, so you can definitely think of it as an investment.
