If you’re like us and you love luxury or designer bags but you don’t want to spend a fortune for them, then this article is for you. We’re going to get into the best designer bags under $2000 and hopefully you’re going to find one that you love.
Our three criteria for determining the best bags are:
- the price. Obviously, the bag needs to be under $2000 which is a bit of a hard task in this day and age
- staying power. We’re going to look at bags that we believe are not super trendy so you can wear them for years to come
- versatility. A bag that you can wear multiple ways and on multiple occasions would be preferred
- practicality. We’re going to look at bags that are actual wearable and practical – so micro bags would not be included for example.

If you want a classic bag, that has been around for a looong time and it will remain relevant for ever, the Louis Vuitton Speedy is the one for you. It’s not a trendy bag but it’s classic and recognizable with a price that nowadays seems kind of decent.
There are many sizes of the Louis Vuitton Speedy so you have a bit of a choice: from a super small Nano to the super roomy 40 (which in our opinion is more a travel/ weekend bag). The numbers after Speedy just mean how big they are in centimeters, so for example a 25 is 25 cm or (almost) 10 inch.
There is also a few different variants of the Speedy 25, you can choose between different canvas prints: damier ebene, damier azur or monogram. You can also choose to buy it with or without the strap and you can even customize it with your initials and straps of your choice.
A con for this bag could be that is not made from leather but from the iconic Louis Vuitton canvas with a leather trim. The LV canvas is extremely durable, so some people might see this as a pro. If you like soft, luxurious leather you might need to skip this one.
Louis Vuitton has had a few price increases lately – see an in-depth article here. But luckily we can still find gems like this under $2000. You might want to hurry if you want a classic LV bag under 2000 as we think that the next price increase will push this bag over the 2000 dollars mark.

Price: $ 1,200
Look, we know what you're thinking... "I thought you said no trendy bags?!". And yes, the Prada re-edition is a trendier bag, however, as the name implies it came back in style from the 2000s and there's no reason to believe it won't be back in style in a few years again.
But even if we completely exclude the fashion cycles, we think this bag feels classic. It has a basic shape to it and especially if you buy it in black, there's no reason to believe that it won't be wearable once this trend dies. The price is really good too, and if you have a $2000 budget, you'll have a hefty $800 to spare after you buy this bag. Even more if you decide to go preloved.

Gucci has been a very trendy brand in the last couple of years with lots of interesting and fun bag designs. The Gucci bag that we're highlighting here is not one of the most sought after piece, but it's one that has consistently been a part of its collections. The Gucci Soho bag is a great bag for under 2000 dollars. It's made of soft grainy leather and it has a perfect size if you prefer cross body bags. It used to be released in many seasonal colors but in the last years Gucci has only released the Soho bag in beige (called Rose Beige) and black which are of course, great classic colors.
We recommend you look on the pre-loved market if you want a bolder color for your Soho bag.
There's honestly not a lot of things that can go wrong if you buy this bag. We believe that is definitely a classic bag, it's deceptively roomy for a small bag, it's made of leather and it has some fun features like the big GG and the tassel.

Saint Laurent is one of those luxury brands that are still relatively affordable yet very classic looking. Despite changing their name from Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) to Saint Laurent in 2012, the fashion house has kept its recognizable YSL logo. This means that their bags have mainly kept the same look and will arguably look classic for many years to come.
Saint Laurent is viewed by many as an alternative to Chanel: both are French fashion houses that have classic looking handbags: one uses chevron the other quilting on their leather with a recognizable metal logo.
One of our favorite Saint Laurent bags under $2000 is the Loulou Toy bag. We love that it comes in many different colors, the adjustable shoulder strap and the luxurious soft lambskin leather.
Unfortunately Dior keeps on increasing its prices, which means that the Lady Dior Clutch is now slightly over $2000. We still think that it needs to be mentioned because it's such a great find that will literally stay in your collection forever. If you were looking for a Lady Dior but you were put off by the insane price, the Lady Dior Pouch can be a great addition. It features the emblematic Cannage stitching and a Dior charm but for a fraction of the price. Of course, usability wise it will be very different from a Lady Dior, however this pouch/clutch is so classy and timeless that you can have it forever and use it for all the special occasions in your life.
If you want to get a better price for the Lady Dior Pouch and have it for under $2000, check out Fashionphile.
Celine is the queen brand of the IYKYK aesthetic. For those unaware, the IYKYK just means "if you know, you know" and it's a nod to subtle brands without excessive logos but still recognizable to a certain community or demographic. Lately Celine has been branching out and launching bags with big logos but some of its classic bags are still very "quiet". One particular bag can still be found under $2000 new, and that is the Pico Belt bag. This is the smallest of the Belt Bags and it is very tiny, but you can still fit your phone, small wallet and a little makeup pouch. Overall it's a great starter luxury bag and an amazing designer bag under 2000 USD.
Chloé used to be the "it" brand about 5-10 years ago and even though is not that anymore, the brand still has a number of classic styles which have stood the test of time. The Chloé Marcie bag is one of those bags that was launched more than 10 years ago, yet it won't look out of place in 2022 either. It has a boho, relaxed feel to it which is actually coming back in style and is big enough to fit more than bare essentials.
We love that you can wear the bag cross-body or by the handle which changes its look from super casual to a bit more formal. It's a great everyday bag if you need to carry for example: a water bottle or umbrella and it also makes a nice work bag, as long as you don't work in a very, very corporate place.
There's no real con to this bag, unless you don't like the style of course. It's quite rare in 2022 to find a designer bag in full leather and that is roomy enough under $2000. Granted, it's only $10 under, so if you're interested buy it before a price increase, or look for it pre-loved.
Mulberry is a brand that is both underrated and understated. The fashion houses was founded in 1856 and so it has a lot of history and heritage behind it. Throughout the years, Mulberry fluctuated in terms of popularity, but it is without a doubt a classic luxury brand. The best part about Mulberry is its prices! Luckily there's a lot of options for bags under $2000, including its iconic, classic tote, the Bayswater.
If you're looking for the perfect work tote, look no further. The Mulberry Bayswater is both classic and understated with a great price tag-
If you prefer smaller bags, have a look at the Lily, Alexa or Antony lines - all under 2000 dollars.
Mulberry is not great on keeping its value, so check out these pre-loved pieces, most under $500!
Marni is an Italian fashion brand that was founded in 1994, making it the youngest fashion house on our list. It is however, still a luxury brand and we believe it has staying power. One of the fashion crowds' favorite bags is the Marni Trunk bag. The bag is very structured and boxy with minimal branding. In fact, no one who is not into fashion will know that you're carrying an almost $2000 bag, which is extremely appealing to some people. We love the sturdy Saffiano leather and the multitude of color options for the Trunk. It's a great everyday bag, but be aware that is less roomy than it seems due to its many compartments (which may be a blessing for the extra-organized among us).
Price: $ 1,950
I know what you're thinking, "that's so 2010"! And yes, the Antigona was EVERYWHERE a few years ago and it seems like its heyday has passed. However, fast forward to 2022, the Givenchy Antigona is still here, alive and well. Sure, it's not every Instagrammer's go to bag but the fact that Givency is still producing it, means that the demand is still there.
It's also one of the most practical bags on our list, made out of beautiful supple leather with a classic shape and a minimalist logo. The price is also good, just under $2000 for a classic designer handbag which has stood the test of time. Truly, the Antigona is one of the best designer bags under 2000 dollars currently in production.
We saved the last bag on the list for a lovely beach-vibes handbag. If you want to invest in a designer bag that you can use on those fancy beach holidays and/or as an airport bag, look no further. Saint Laurent launched the Rive Gauche Tote, maybe as an answer to Dior's Book Tote but at a much more attractive price point.
The YSL tote is pretty simple, made out of canvas with a leather trim and a snap button fastening. It's obviously very "in your face" with the name of the brand and the bag printed on the bag, but it is a summer staple.
Conclusion: Best Designer Bags Under 2000 dollars
Here we have it, the top 11 designer bags under $2000. We tried to look for bags in each category, from clutches, everyday bags, work and beach bags. Every year fashion houses increase their prices and so it's becoming more and more difficult to find a good designer bag that is actually "affordable" or less than 2000 dollars. In our research we found that a good way to save is:
- to buy bags that are not leather: like Louis Vuitton's coated canvas, Saint Laurent's canvas or Prada's nylon
- look for brands that are a little more underrated such as Marni or Mulberry
- buy smaller bags or clutches that are reminiscent of the more popular iconic bags (like the Lady Dior Clutch or the YSL Toy Loulou).
